The Dragon’s Apprentice Challenge sets young people the task of raising money for charities, with the help of local business people -‘dragons’, who mentor the young team to help them achieve their funding target. The competition culminates in an awards evening, to be held on Wednesday 25th March this year at The University of Hertfordshire.

Local businessman, Steve Bignell, who owns LED lighting company, Sera Technologies, has been the “dragon” of the winning team (Most money raised and most money/overall winner) for the last two years. He has volunteered again this year as a Poster Judge for the final element of the challenge for the 16 and 17 year olds. This involves creating a poster to display at the awards ceremony, which will summarise their idea, dragon, charity and how they raised the funds.

Steve Bignell said, “I’m really pleased to be able to be involved in Dragon’s Apprentice again this year. It’s a great opportunity for students from local schools to work with local businesses and the community.

Steve Bignell went on to say “It’s really rewarding for me to see their entrepreneurial spirits flourish and watch them succeed.”
