Emergency lighting is essential for any building, ensuring your office or commercial building is prepared in case a situation would arise when normal lighting fails or main power is cut. This could happen for a number of reasons, some being due to a fire or a power cut. If this were to happen, your emergency lighting can ensure your staff members can safely and efficiently get out of the building without panicking.

Emergency lighting is generally required to operate at all times, giving a visible illuminating glow to ensure occupants of the building are able to exit securely. As there are a few types of lighting it can be confusing to know which one would be the best to choose as they do slightly different things, you are able to pick from non-maintained and maintained lighting.

  • Non-maintained: In the event of main power failure, the emergency lighting will illuminate.
  • Maintained: The emergency lights are lit constantly even in the event of a power failure.

Here at SERA Technologies, we offer both types of lighting. To find out which would work best for you, contact your local authorities and Fire Prevention departments.

In the last decade, emergency lighting regulations have changed regarding the fire exit sign. It used to be a simple green and white sign with the text ‘Exit’, in 1998 it was updated to the ‘running man’ pictogram format, the latest change added an arrow to the sign.

The old versions are no longer accepted by Health and Safety Regulations making it quite essential to ensure you have the latest sign to meet their requirements. We pride ourselves in making sure we have the most up to date products for our customers.

SERA Technologies offers a wide range of LED emergency lighting to suit an array of needs, from non-maintained to maintained lighting and a variety of styles which are compliant with the British Standard regulations (BS 5266-1: 2011).
