What are LED filament light bulbs and how do they work?

LED filament bulbs combine energy‑efficient LED technology with a classic filament style that mimics the look of traditional incandescent bulbs. They use LED “filaments” to create a warm, decorative glow with much lower energy consumption than old‑style bulbs.

What are the benefits of choosing LED filament bulbs over traditional incandescent or halogen bulbs?

LED filament bulbs offer energy savings, longer lifespan, lower heat output, and vintage aesthetic appeal while delivering similar light quality to incandescent bulbs, all with modern LED efficiency and durability.

Where can LED filament bulbs be used?

LED filament bulbs are ideal for decorative lighting in living rooms, dining areas, cafes, bars, retail spaces, and anywhere a warm, attractive light effect is desired. They work well in exposed fittings and vintage‑style fixtures.

How do I choose the right LED filament bulb for my space?

Choose based on base type (e.g. E27 or B22), brightness (lumens) instead of wattage, colour temperature (often warm white for ambience), and whether you want dimmable bulbs for mood‑setting control.

Can LED filament bulbs be used with dimmer switches or smart controls?

Yes, many LED filament bulbs are dimmable and compatible with dimmer switches and smart lighting systems, but you should always check the bulb specs to ensure proper compatibility with your chosen control method.
